CELTIC have reached an agreement with the team behind BT Sport, Sunset Vine, to produce the virtual season ticket matches as Celtic look set to kick off their ten in a row campaign behind closed doors.
The Daily Record are reporting that Celtic will have Sutton and co on board for the match day content as Celtic go for 10-in-a-row. BT Sport lost their rights to broadcast Scottish football to Sky Sports but following Sky’s £125m offer, the Sunset Vine team were forced to refocus their efforts on Celtic’s European action.
However, following the news that the 2020/2021 season would begin in August, the Celtic confirmed that season tickets would continue to be sold to supporters who wish to support their club and never miss a match, with virtual games an option. Although, they will be getting help from the production company whilst keeping the content separate.
The news is welcome as BT’s coverage of Celtic in recent years has been incredible and would have been missed. Until supporters are allowed back in the grounds, Celtic have committed to upgrading the match day content as the demand from the usual Celtic TV content surges.
This is an exciting announcement that will mitigate the loss of attending matches. Although, until supporters can get back into grounds, the game won’t be the same.
