Former Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is being linked with a sensational move to Barcelona. The Irishman has lead Leicester City to back-to-back Fifth Place finishes in the Premier League as well as ending their wait for an FA Cup. However, Ronald Koeman’s difficult start to the season is threatening the Dutchman’s future as Barca manager.

90Min are reporting that Rodgers is on the shortlist alongside Xavi, Andrea Pirlo, Antonio Conte and Philip Cocu. Rodgers, who speaks Spanish, is highly regarded at the Camp Nou and the philosophies of the ex-Celtic boss would certainly fit in with the ethos of the La Liga giants.

Rodgers was at the Celtic helm for two and a half years. The ex-Liverpool manager won seven trophies in a row, an Invincible Treble, a 69-game unbeaten run and numerous other successes before being replaced by Neil Lennon when he left for Leicester in February 2019. Supporters will likely recognise how impressive Rodgers’ time at the club was and a lot of people realised that there were issues at a boardroom level that lead to his departure, which was emphasised by the off-field mess of last season.

It is merely a rumour at this stage but Rodgers would certainly fit the profile of a Barcelona manager. Whether he would leave Leicester or not, remains to be seen. He was an excellent Celtic manager and his ability to set professional standards across the club would certainly be welcome at Barca.
