DESPITE there being no games scheduled in Scotland for the foreseeable future, rumours are still flying about regarding transfers. We have already heard rumours of Kris Ajer and Odsonne Edouard being the subject of interest from clubs in Europe as teams try and take advantage of the economic situation and get their business done.
The Daily Record cite reports in France which are claiming that OGC Nice, managed by Patrick Viera, are interested in taking Olivier Ntcham to the Cote d’Azur for next season. Viera worked with Ntcham in the Manchester City Academy and the report lists the 24-year-old as one of the French side’s targets.
However, Nice are yet to qualify for the Europa League and would have to wait until August before finding out whether they would play in Europe’s second competition. Celtic meanwhile will be hoping for qualification to the Champions League when the season resumes.
Ntcham was expected to leave Celtic last season with Marseille and Porto interested in signing the Frenchman. However, he forced his way back into Neil Lennon’s reckoning and become a key component of Celtic pushing towards 9IAR. One of the highlights of the last campaign was Ntcham’s last minute goal in the Stadio Olimpico to defeat Lazio and seal Celtic’s place in the Last 32 of the Europa League.
Hopefully Ntcham will be keen to stay at Celtic for another year at least in order to seal Celtic’s 10-in-a-row dreams. Whilst Scottish football faces an existential crisis caused by COVID-19, Celtic are in a strong financial position and shouldn’t be bullied into selling any player below their value.
