THE SPFL chairman Murdoch MacLennan is set to ‘shoot down’ the Rangers dossier in the next 24 hours according to the Scottish Sun. Yesterday marked the day that Rangers released their 200 page dossier to Scottish clubs to much derision. Should MacLennan decide to reject the claims in a rebuttal to Rangers prior to the EGM on Tuesday, it would open the door for Celtic to be declared Champions and the season to be concluded.
The Scottish Sun are reporting that a rebuttal will be made by league in order to inform teams on the organisation’s reply to the claims made.
Any rebuttal from the SPFL could prove damaging to the claims made by Rangers, which do not suffice as evidence of the wrongdoing that they claim.
Meanwhile, this rebuttal from MacLennan would hasten the decision to award Celtic the Premiership title as Tuesday will see the vote carried as to whether an Independent Investigation is required as per Rangers’ request or did the league authorities act properly in deciding regarding the vote. It was reported earlier in the week that clubs were in favour of ending the season immediately and giving the deserving champions their title.
The whole episode has been alarming and selfish, especially considering that we have a global pandemic potent threatening the very existence of Scottish football. The league should be concluded, awarding Celtic the title and giving teams the opportunity to batten down the hatches and await the return of football.
