When Jeremie Frimpong was sold to Bayer Leverkusen earlier this week, we were told that Celtic would bring in a right back on loan. Indeed, Neil Lennon said that much of the reported £11.5m transfer fee would not be made available, at least for the time being. Since then, Peter Lawwell has announced his resignation for the end of the season and Celtic lost another game of football. Quite the storm!

Amid all of that news and the fact that Dominic McKay is set to become the club’s CEO in July, it was easy to forget about transfer business. However, rumours have been mounting that Celtic are looking at a Premier League right back and in the last hour SunSport has claimed that Celtic are set to sign Jonjoe Kenny on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Kenny is 23 year old defender, who has made one Premier League appearance for Everton this season. Keen for regular first team football, the move could suit both parties in the short term.

The full back has real quality having won 16 England U21 caps, whilst he spent last season on loan at Schalke in the German Bundesliga.

Kenny could make his debut against Kilmarnock on Tuesday, which would allow Lennon to play Ajer at centre half in place of Shane Duffy.
