Sky Sports are reporting that Rocco Vata is set to leave Celtic in this transfer window on a permanent deal. And despite being promoted to the first team last season by Ange Postecoglou and also being involved in the first team in pre-season under new manager Brendan Rodgers, Vata’s position at the club, according to Anthony Joseph, has now changed and there are currently no plans to extend the player’s contract or send him out on loan.
With interest from Italy, Belgium and indeed from Barry Robson up at Aberdeen, the Republic of Ireland U21 winger will not be short of options. Like Ben Doak and others before him, Vata was regarded as the next big star quite literally waiting in the wings to make a breakthrough at Celtic and establish himself in the Celtic first team.
With two new wingers arriving this summer the son of former Celt Rudi Vata must have considered his chances of first team action limited and the quirkiness of playing against low quality opposition in the lowland league soon wears off.
Anthony Joseph’s update reads:
“It’s looking increasingly likely that Celtic winger Rocco Vata will leave on a permanent transfer. Currently no plans to extend his contract, or to send out on loan. He was promoted to the 1st team, but the management’s stance has changed. Vata now weighing up options.”
