News coming out of Trondheim suggests that the players of Rosenborg disagreed with the decision to sack manager Kare Ingebrigtsen and assistant Erik Hoftun; so much so that they attempted to have the pair reinstated.

Unfortunately for the players, their requests fell upon dead ears and the club hierarchy have quashed their revolt.

The players will be professional and try and hope that this major hiccup in their preparations for their trip to Glasgow won’t have of major detriment to their European aspirations; however, their morale will be poor and they may be initially uneasy with the man that’s replaced their former manager, whom was well liked in the dressing room.

Ingebrigtsen leaves the club, where he spent the vast majority of his playing career, after 4 years in charge. Rosenborg currently sit second in the table and scraped past Valur 3–2 on aggregate after a late, albeit controversial Bendtner penalty.

Rosenborg visit Celtic at Paradise on Wednesday in the Champions League second qualifying round.
