CELTIC supporters are waiting on any news about Fraser Forster returning to the club and if it is bad news, they want to know who will be coming to play in goals for the Scottish Champions. Another team that is awaiting the news about Celtic’s goalkeeping business is Ross County.
As reported by the Daily Record, The Staggies are waiting to seal their own deal for Ross Doohan. The loan deal will allow Doohan to compete with Ross Laidlaw for the first team spot in Stuart Kettlewell’s side allowing him to make the Premiership step up after two seasons with Championship side Ayr United.
The 22-year-old has been a regular fixture in the Scotland U21s and should Neil Lennon recruit another goalkeeper, it would make sense to give Doohan some Premiership experience. In his early twenties, Doohan has the potential to become the first team keeper at Celtic one day but this season a seasoned pro, like Forster, is what the club need.
Celtic have been heavily linked with a move for Fraser Forster with Wigan’s David Marshall, AEK Athens’ Vasilios Barkas and Joe Hart also being linked with the vacancy. Following the end of Forster’s loan deal as well as Craig Gordon leaving for Hearts, Scott Bain remains the only first team goalkeeper at the club.
A deal for a goalkeeper is likely to have the domino effect for Ross County by allowing Doohan to join them ahead of the new season.
