Rumoured Celtic target Hannibal Mejbri wants game-time

Rumoured Celtic target Hannibal Mejbri is “tired” of sitting on the bench, as he revealed in an interview with The National News.

Hannibal said: “It didn’t go well [at Sevilla]but I feel like I learnt a lot and that I’m more mature. I can feel that around the United players now. I’m not going to say that I’m considered an old player because I’m only 21, but they are not treating me like a young player either. I feel respected by my teammates.

“As a footballer, I just want to play and show myself. Every player will say the same. I’m tired of sitting on a bench watching others play.

“I was close with Anthony Elena and Teden Mengi. I’ve seen them leave the club and succeed as Premier League players and I’m proud of them. They needed to play every week like I do, but it’s harder to do it at United.”

The comments from Hannibal come amidst reported Celtic interest in the 21-year-old.

Rivals theRangers were also reportedly interested in his services, but either team making a move would likely have to pay a decent fee to get him on their books.

Reliable transfer insider Fabrizio Romano revealed that Manchester United were open to a deal being struck for the young midfielder, saying: “Hannibal Mejbri will be out, I think in the next days. They want to sell him on a permanent transfer.”

He also confirmed that the interest from theRangers is legitimate, but is yet to have his say on Celtic.

Man United icon Andy Cole reckons that he should take the opportunity to play in Scotland should it arise, with the former striker saying: “If he has the opportunity to move to either Celtic or Rangers, then why not? It’s that simple. He’s going to find it difficult to get into the Manchester United team, so it will be interesting to see if the club decides to move him on and either loan him out or try and get a decent transfer fee for him.”
