Running scared of Beale – A lion doesn’t run from a wildebeest

Running scared of Beale? Have you ever seen a lion run from a wildebeest?…

There’s now a theory amongst theRangers supporters that Ange Postecoglou will take the Spurs job because he’s running scared of Michael Spiel!

Have you ever seen a lion running from a solitary wildebeest? Nope, anything stupid enough to chase a lion soon face the consequences, as the former club who played out of Ibrox have found to their cost. So in other words Ange is running from his easiest task. Yip that’s the way the average mind of a Rangers supporter works. They are clearly not well.

Yes Beale finished on more points than Ange since his time in Scotland, but that has as much relevance as Steven Gerrard’s famous “if games lasted 86 minutes” claim. Yes he beat Ange’s Celtic last month, but that was a dead rubber and had no bearing on the league standings after the title was already won by Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic side.

Spiel’s side threw away two points at Ibrox in the New Year Glasgow Derby, his side froze and flopped in the League Cup final as Ange scooped the seasons’ first bit of silverware. Celtic then took the three points that basically clinched the title at Celtic Park in April and later that month Celtic ended Spiel’s hopes of a trophy as Ange led the hoops to the Scottish cup final with a 1-0 win over theRangers in the semi-final, effectively ending their season then and there until a Sky Sports presenter thought up the Summer Bragging Rights imaginary trophy.

Does that sound like a man running away? Maybe for a new challenge as it’s currently too easy for him in Scotland as Spiel isn’t putting up much a fight! If Ange Postecoglou does leave it will be to pursue his own ambitions, not because he’s scared of a man who has done nothing of note in the game and has won nothing as a manager.

An ordinary everyday Celtic supporters hailing and still residing in Govan in the shadows of the enemy. I’m a season ticket holder. I Witnessed my first Celtic game in 1988 and have attended when I can ever since. Growing up in the 90s I witnessed Celtic at their lowest, and now appreciate the historic success we enjoy today. I enjoy writing about this wonderful football club and hopefully will continue to do so. I’ve always been a keen writer and initially started this a hobby. My ambition is to one day become as good an author as my fellow Celtic Star colleagues.

If Ange gets offered, and accepts, the Tottenham job then he will be running, but not from any threat that Beale may pose. He’ll be running to satisfy his personal ambition, leaving the Celtic job half done. We all accept that he’s enjoyed domestic success with Celtic, but he failed badly in Europe last year and still has to prove he’s got what it takes to bring some kind of success to Celtic in Europe. To leave now would be to abandon the job halfway through and that would not be good for his reputation.

There is also a Rangers element to this Spurs interest though, which is that the Chairman of Tottenham, Daniel Levy, was a Director on the Board at Rangers back in 2004. He has a reputation for not spending on players and for being ruthless with managers. Some of the top managers in the world have been sacked by him. Ange will need to be vary careful with any offer by Tottenham, for a few bad results will see him out the door very quickly.

Have you been trawling social media for a tag, to justify this piece?

I hope he stays but, in any case, I’d pay scant regard as to what other club’s supporters might theorise. It’s irrelevant.
