Celtic FC Women have confirmed that Chloe Craig has ruptured her ACL, ruling her out for the rest of the season…

The club posted an injury update on social media this morning stating:

Celtic FC Women: We can confirm that Chloe Craig has sustained a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament, and will now face an extended period on the sidelines. We are all with you every step of the way, Craigy

The defender has enjoyed a good season so far, with incredible performances against the likes of Glasgow City. There was a shock when she was left out of Elena Sadiku’s squad for Round One of the UEFA Women’s Champions League, and supporters feared that she had picked up an injury. Now, we know the extent of it.

She didn’t travel with the squad as she was set to be assessed by a specialist and she will now begin her rehabilitation. She will have to undergo surgery and could be sidelined for some time.

The Celtic Star Editor is speaking to Celtic manager Elena Sadiku shortly so we’ll get an update on Chloe’s injury then. There is no doubt that missing out on having the Celtic stalwart available for the rest of this season is a massive blow to the team.

Celtic have had more than their fair share of ACL injuries in recent seasons with Hana Kerner just back from a year out with hers and Lucy Ashworth-Clifford having had the same injury too.

Elena is preparing his side for the Uefa Champions League group final tomorrow at the Siaulias M. Savivaldybes Stadionas against Lithuanian Champions FC Gintra, which kicks off at 4pm (CPT) and is available to watch on PPV on Celtic TV.

Best wishes to Chloe, haste ye back, legend!
