Celtic midfielder Ryan Christie turns 26 years old today. Unfortunately, the Scottish international’s birthday has coincided with the morning after the night before… not only in terms of Celtic’s 1-0 loss to Ross County, but because he missed a string of golden opportunities, including one chance from six yards that he put out of the stadium.

Overall, it would have to be said that Christie has had a decent Celtic career to date. He has been poor this season, but was a star performer in the previous campaign and did very well after being given an opportunity by Brendan Rodgers in the Betfred Cup against Hearts, back in October 2018. Indeed, the player went on a scoring spree at that stage, and even bagged the winner against Aberdeen in the Final.

Many fans feel frustrated by Ryan’s erratic finishing and insistence to shoot on sight this season. He, like the rest of the team, has completely lost his mojo. In that sense, with feelings running high, a happy birthday tweet was never going to go down well with some supporters.

Celtic’s official Twitter account has wisely held off so far, though it is the norm for the club to wish players and former Celts a happy birthday online. Nevertheless, that silence hasn’t prevented Christie from trending on the social media platform.
