Celtic captain Callum McGregor is on International Duty tonight as Scotland are back in action tonight in the final game of the World Cup Qualifiers. The Celtic skipper will be joined by David Turnbull and Tony Ralston in the squad for the game at Hampden. With second place secured by virtue of a 3-0 win away to Moldova, the Scots welcome Euro 2020 semi-finalists Denmark. Steve Clarke’s side will be seeded for the play-off semi-final if they can get a point off the unbeaten Danes.
Team News
Former Celt Ryan Christie and Lyndon Dykes return to the squad but Clarke suggested that he might not be able to play the striker, saying he was 50/50. Manchester United’s Scott McTominay missed the win on Friday night with a throat infection and he will not make the game tonight either. Rangers’ Nathan Patterson scored and assisted in the important win but his booking means that he is suspended for tonight. As a result, Clarke has reversed his previous oversight of Tony Ralston and called the 22-year-old into the squad. Ryan Porteous of Hibs, who is prone to a bad tackle, has been drafted in to provide defensive cover.
Celtic captain Callum McGregor is expected to start again, the dependable midfielder is so versatile and much of Scotland’s success is down to his ability to support and link with John McGinn and Billy Gilmour.
Predicted XI: Gordon; Robertson, Tierney, Cooper, Hendry, Ralston; McGregor, McGinn, Gilmour; Adams, Christie.
