Scott Brown takes another step on the road back to Paradise

Celtic legend Scott Brown returned to football management yesterday as he was appointed manager of Scottish Championship side Ayr United.

Broony of course had been absent from the dugout since his dismissal at Fleetwood Town back at the beginning of the season, but now has a chance to prove himself in his homeland with The Honest Men. His presence seemed to inspire his new side as they beat Arbroath 2-0 at Somerset Park last night with Broony watching on from the stands.

Broony is a natural leader and has the makings of a good manager. He started out brightly at Fleetwood only for things to go downhill, but that was him just cutting his teeth in the dogged world of football management and he will have benefited from the experience.

He’s a good club in Ayr United and he’ll be working at a fine level so it will be interesting to see how he gets on, and naturally we wish him all the best.

There’s also the small matter of a Scottish Cup fifth round tie on Saturday 10 February when Broony takes his new charges to Ibrox of all places for Scottish football’s Honesty v Dishonesty contest.

I’m sure he’ll enjoy a warm reception from the Zombies! Ayr United will of course be massive underdogs, but they have nothing to lose and can you just imagine if Broony pulled off a shock result! Oh, it would be wonderfully funny but while it’s very unlikely, but we can all dream!

Best of luck Broony, this is another important step on the road back to Paradise.
