Sead Haksabanovic can’t resist Rodgers dig in emotional farewell

Sead Haksabanovic has joined Malmo on a permanent deal after his Celtic exit was sanctioned by the club. Haksa was signed by Ange Postecoglou at the beginning of his second season and helped Celtic towards a Treble before the Australian left for Spurs. Brendan Rodgers didn’t appear to rate the ex-West Ham man highly, prompting a petulant social media post by the player.

The 25-year-old spent last season on loan at Stoke City after appearing to be out of the manager’s thinking.

Now, Malmo took to Twitter/Xconfirming the signature of the Montenegro Internationalist on a four year contract.

The news prompted Haksabanovic to post on social media an emotional farewell. However, the winger couldn’t resist a chance to aim a dig towards Brendan for allowing his exit.

In an Instagram post, Haksabanovic said:

“So my time at Celtic has come to an end, earlier than I thought and expected and wanted but some other people had another opinion and I gotta respect that.”

Rodgers bombed Haksabanovic after a cryptic Instagram post due to his involvement being limited him to subs appearances. The manager seemed to make it clear that the club would entertain offers for the player and a move to PAOK looked to be nearly over the line before Stoke swooped in.

Haksabanovic leaves the club having made 42 appearances and scoring 13 goals plus assisting 9 times. He will likely fade into being an obscure pub quiz question where Celtic are concerned but it is clear that there’s a very talented, skilful player there and hopefully he enjoys a successful career.

  1. If he had directed this level of passion into his efforts on the park, he would have been an asset!
A player with tremendous potential and talent but yet another prima donna!
