The SFA have dismissed Celtic’s appeal against the decision to send Yang off in Sunday’s Cinch Premiership clash against Hearts. The South Korean winger was initially shown a yellow card by Don Robertson before John Beaton on VAR instructed his colleague to perform an on-field review.
Robertson then flashed the red card towards the attacker, who won the MoTM award in the win over Dundee. This posed a threat towards Celtic’s chances winning against Steven Naismith’s side.
Celtic signalled their intent to appeal the decision after the game whilst also notifying that they had written to the football governing body to raise concerns about the standard of officiating. This likely relates to the second contentious decision, which saw Tomoki Iwata penalised for a handball that he knew nothing about.
The club issued a brief statement on the issue.
“We have received notification that the club’s claim has been dismissed.
“Clearly we are surprised and extremely disappointed at this decision.”
The Scottish Champions will now be without Yang for the games against Livingston and St Johnstone before the international break.
