Shay Given has brilliantly trolled Kris Boyd on Instagram after Celtic’s Glasgow Derby win on Wednesday night. Goals from Reo Hatate and Liel Abada sealed three points for Ange Postecoglou’s side as they leapfrogged Rangers to go top of the Premiership table in front of a packed Paradise.

The former Ireland Internationalist had the misfortune of sitting beside Boyd in the Sky Sports studio on Monday night as the news broke that Rangers had signed Aaron Ramsey from Juventus on loan. However, Boyd’s wide grin was noticeably absent as Celtic dispatched his beloved side during an incredible first half display. Given posted a picture of himself beaming outside the front entrance to Celtic Park on Instagram whilst telling Boyd to keep his chin up.

Given was signed by Celtic after the club spotted the talent on a tour of Ireland in 1991 and the factors of Irish legends Bonner and Brady sealed the deal, despite interest from Manchester United. The former Celtic striker took the player to Blackburn Rovers in 1994 when no deal could be reached in Glasgow’s East End, sparking off a successful career in England.
