Sky Sports man confirms Celtic make £6.5m bid to land highly rated attacking midfielder

Celtic have reportedly made a £6.5m bid for Augsburg star Arne Engels. The Belgian attacking midfielder has been heavily touted as a replacement for Matt O’Riley, who is set to complete a £30m move to Brighton today.

According to Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph on Twitter/X, Celtic have submitted a bid for the 20-year-old and that he is keen to make the move.

Augsburg reportedly want £8m for the player and you’d imagine that Celtic have included add-ons in the offer to bump that figure up. The player wants to come and compete for silverware while trying his hand in the Champions League.

Engels has made 53 appearances for the Bundesliga side, scoring 3 goals and assisting on 9 occasions.

Celtic will look to add two midfielders in the coming days and it is hoped that Engels will be one of the players to complete a permanent move before the deadline at the weekend.
