Celtic have reportedly registered their interest in Dundee skipper Luke McCowan. The Scottish Champions are looking to bolster their squad in the closing stages of the window and will be looking to confirm deals for Arne Engels and Auston Trusty shortly.

Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph has confirmed that Celtic have lodged a formal approach for McCowan as they look to add another midfielder to the squad but face competition from Hibs. The 26-year-old has two goals and one assist in the first three league games of the season as he continues to impress under Tony Docherty.

Hibs have had their fourth bid for McCowan rejected as they have courted the Scottish midfielder for some time. There are no doubt some nerves in the Easter Rd corridors of power as Celtic circle for the ex-Ayr United star. Celtic want McCowan as he could satisfy the club’s homegrown quota as well as offering a dependable, talented member of the first team.

In 125 appearances, McCowan has scored 28 goals and assisted 19 times. The performances last season, that helped Dundee to a Top Six finish, have attracted interest from Hibs and no doubt, Celtic have been keeping tabs on the player.
