So It’s February and no sign of the promised review – It’s time for the Celtic support to act

David Turnbull reckons that the Celtic players owe Neil Lennon a big performance after their disgraceful display in the 2-1 defeat to St Mirren where the Hoops were well and truly embarrassed.

How Neil Lennon doesn’t have the self awareness to match for instance the Kilmarnock manager at the weekend and call time on his own personal nightmare of a season, is truly remarkable.

And he’s also apparently been spared the indignity of the board’s promised January review, which turned out to be a lie and from a PLC Board prepared to mislead their customers. That though will not be allowed to stand and the Celtic support will take action to reclaim OUR club from these liars and charlatans.

The first thing that you should do – if you haven’t done so already – is message the club regarding the rebate from last season’s games. This was offered, very discretely then buried quickly by the PLC board of directors but you have NOT missed the deadline as the PLC have a statutory obligation lasting five years to pay refunds for services paid for but not provided.

Lennon blamed the players for the defeat at the weekend but Turnbull wouldn’t be drawn into commenting on those comments. “That’s the manager’s opinion and it’s not for me to comment on what he says or thinks but we do owe him to pick this up. We try to do it every week, to keep fighting,” the £3,2m summer signing from Motherwell told David Friel at Scottish Sun.

“We know it’s really difficult with the league but we have to play for pride because if there’s no pride there’s no point in even playing football. We need to keep trying and keep pushing, to play as a team. We need to stick together and hopefully everyone does that,” Turnbull added.

Turnbull accepts that confidence is low within the playing squad but insists the speculation over the manager’s future is not causing this. “That’s not the case from what I’ve seen. All the boys have tried to stay off social media and tune out from that kind of stuff.

“Has confidence taken a battering? Yeah, I would say so. Personally it’s tough going into games at the moment. It’s hard to keep yourselves going when you are going behind and you know you need to get it back.

“But we must get that out of our heads. We need to keep pushing and make sure we play better, simple as that.”

Lennon described the 2-1 defeat to St Mirren as the lowest point of his time managing Celtic – but still decided against bowing to the inevitable and resigning while Peter Lawwell seems incapable of doing what is required of a man taking a HUGE wage out of the club every month – removing Neil Lennon and his coaching staff and beginning to recover from this almighty mess.

“It wasn’t the result we wanted. We got ourselves back into the game, but it was disappointing to go behind twice,” Turnbull admitted. “With the players we have got we should have been able to pull it back.”
