‘Something magical about playing European nights at Celtic Park,’ says Celtic Star

KRIS AJER is prepared to play in any position if it helps the Celtic team. He’s had to shift over to right back due ti the on-going recruitment woes that the club is facing in that position, and he’s likely to be playing there this evening against Sarajevo in the second leg of the the first round Champions League Qualifier.

Playing in the Champions League at Celtic Park is a real highlight for the 21 year old. “There’s always something magical about playing European nights at Celtic Park so we are all very much looking forward to it,” Ajer said.

“I will always play where the gaffer puts me,” Ajer said yesterday, when put up as the player speaking to the media ahead of the visit from Sarajevo.

“That’s always going to be my thinking. I’ll always try and do my best wherever I am on the pitch. If I’m asked to play a different position, I’ll do that.

“I want to develop so many parts of my game. I think I’ve developed a lot since I’ve come in, but there’s loads more I want to improve. I’m always learning the role but there’s always aspects of your game you want to improve.

“Right-back isn’t where I’m used to playing, but it’s been more of a holding right-back role I’ve been playing, almost like a centre-back, but more attacking. It’s a bit different defensive-wise, but attacking it’s similar.

“The gaffer has also been really good to me and has talked to me about what I can improve to be even better. I work with John Kennedy after every single training session, and I’m enjoying every single moment here.”
