Souness, the want-to-be Englishman and bootlicking Sally

Why didn’t we have any Scottish commentators or pundits for the game? Oh wait we did!

Scotland fell to a disappointing defeat against a decent English side it has to be said. In all honesty we are better than that, I felt that we showed them too much respect. But who cares it was only a friendly and Scotland are on the brink of going to Germany.

For those not at Hampden we had to listen to the dreary arrogant English commentators and pundits, oh wait we had a few Scots on? Who were they?

Ah Graeme Souness who spent his pre-match summary talking up the English. Yes, a man who won 54 caps for Scotland fawning over the talents of the English players, it was absolutely embarrassing. I couldn’t tell you his after match reaction as I’d long switched off. He was most likely grinning from ear to ear.

The same goes for Ally McCoist, some supporters reckon he’s a breath of fresh air on commentary, but for me he’s just full of hot air. His match commentary was cringeworthy and just as embarrassing as his old manager. He must have needed to give his tongue an extra clean this morning due to all that bootlicking he was doing last night.

Yes, England were the better side, but McCoist did nothing but compliment them throughout the game, barely acknowledging his own national team. A man who won 61 caps for his country. Shameless.

Well we shouldn’t be surprised should we? After all both Souness and McCoist used play and manage a club who prepared for games under a portrait of the Queen.

  1. What did you expect. They have to strike a balance as the audience is UK-wide. I thought it the commentary and analysis was as expected. Nothing to lose any sleep over. I’d hardly describe it as “shameless”. Boring maybe.
