Southampton look set to launch a £20m bid for Odsonne Edouard. With Danny Ings leaving for Aston Villa, Saints look set to raid Celtic once again, according to The Scottish Sun.

The report states that Saints are willing to offer £20m and do not foresee any issues in negotiating with Celtic; however, they would require more realistic terms from Edouard for a deal to be done.

Brighton are also in contention for the Frenchman’s signature but the path to Saints is one that a number of Celtic’s finest have made in the past, including Fraser Forster, Virgil Van Dijk, Victor Wanyama and Stuart Armstrong.

Edouard has been a fan favourite at the club and even the quoted £20m fee would be a bargain for the player but given the situation, Celtic have done well not to be forced into selling the player on the cheap. It should be a priority at the club to get Edouard out whilst maximising his value and sourcing a replacement.

With 55 league goals in three seasons, Edouard has proven himself to be an excellent operator and his goals will be hard to replace but if he has his eyes set on a move to England then Edouard should be sold.

The manager will know that automatic Champions League qualification awaits the league winners this season, meaning that the club could make an enormous amount but Ange Postecoglou will need the best players at his disposal to do so.
