Clyde 1 Superscoreboard have just broke the news that SPFL clubs will be permitted to sign up to six players on loan this season. The previous maximum number of loans allowed was four.

The decision was made in light of the ongoing Covid-19 crisis, which has seen Scottish clubs hit harder than most. As yet, there is no change in the government guidelines to enable fans to attend matches, meaning that many clubs are set to be short of cash. Additionally, SPFL action has not taken place since 6 March and thus the financial implications have been felt across the board.

Celtic have enjoyed lots of excellent loan signings over the years from Craig Bellamy and Robbie Keane to the more recent impacts of Paddy Roberts and Fraser Forster. In the current climate, loan signings may be a necessity to bring in the desired quality as the Hoops go for ten in a row. Indeed, Moi Elyounoussi has just recently rejoined the club on a temporary basis and now Celtic can add an additional five loan signings should they wish.
