Sunday could be too soon for Gustav, so expect Welsh to get the nod alongside Nawrocki…
Many are expecting new signing Gustav Lagerbielke to make his Celtic debut on Sunday in the League Cup clash with Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.
With Cameron Carter-Vickers looking extremely doubtful, it’s widely believed that the Swede will be flung into action alongside fellow new boy Maik Nawrocki.

Both are young highly rated players and this will be a good test for them as Kilmarnock appear to be playing well at the moment. It’s imperative they get up to speed and are fully focused as Derek McInnes and his players will fancy their chances of completing an early season Glasgow Derby double by beating both theRangers and Celtic on their home plastic pitch.
Of course Brendan Rodgers could still start Stephen Welsh and the former Scotland Under 21 captain had a decent game at Pittodrie on Sunday when he replaced the injured CCV at the interval. The manager has indicated he rates Stephen and sees his future at Celtic so there’s no reason to be surprised if Welsh gets the nod on Sunday.
Either way it looks like it will be a young and new looking centre-back pairing to face the confident Ayrshire side on Sunday. That thought could benefit Celtic, who have been creating plenty of opportunities in the matches this season. If Kilmarnock come out and attack the Celtic defence that will leave room for Daizen Maeda, Liel Abada and Kyogo to exploit and it would make for another decent game of football.
With a place in the quarter finals at stake in the first trophy of season, Brendan Rodgers will want to be at our strongest as we focus on defending our trophy as we aim for yet another treble.
Just an Ordinary Bhoy
