It’s been reported that the Scottish cup final, the showpiece cup of this country has been shelved to a lunchtime kick off to avoid clashing with the FA cup final between Manchester City and Manchester United. It’s not ideal for the Celtic and Inverness Caley Thistle support.

Even more so for the Inverness fans who have to travel down from the Highlands, and the many Celtic supporters who travel in numbers from Ireland, England and further afield. Fans an afterthought as usual

Of course the Manchester Derby Final is going to the bigger attraction, no one is disputing that, but it’s not to the Celtic and Inverness supporters and that’s the folk who should matter.

The FA Cup Final has been a 17.30 kick off the last few years but now it’s been pencilled in for a traditional 3pm kick off thus the clash with our showpiece.

Fair enough viaplay and the BBC don’t want a clash for fear of a drop in viewing figures but there is more than one way of coming to a compromise other than slotting it into the nonsensical noon kick off. There’s a number of solutions available.

Check out Daizen at the end of the line…

What about the 17.30 kick off? Even a 19.45 kick off? Move it to Sunday 3pm? All much better and smarter options than a lunchtime kick off. This is our showpiece final and we as supporters deserve better, our game deserves better. The powers that be at viaplay and BBC Scotland should get round the table and thrash this out, it’s not that difficult.
