Celtic supporters have been badly let down by the club, from virtual season tickets, a January review, 23 points behind Rangers or a woeful run of form – there has been a severe lack of communication from the club to supporters in recent months. The one exception to this is the impressive John Paul Taylor, Celtic’s SLO. However, a new anti-Lennon trend has started on social media and this exploded in reaction to a Celtic tweet this evening.

As Celtic announced Jonjoe Kenny from Everton on loan until the end of the season, a social media trend demanding Lennon is removed from his position of manager began in the replies.

It is a shame that Kenny’s announcement has been marred with such a reaction; however, many feel that the club are not listening to them anymore. Lennon has fielded calls to resign and be sacked from October onwards but the Irishman has stubbornly clung onto his position with each call strengthening his stubborn stance.

Lennon’s achievements with the club cannot be taken away, but the recent months may threaten to tarnish his legacy at the football club and with the support. There is a toxic air around the club in recent weeks in what was supposed to be a season like no other. The club are needing an overhaul with Dominic McKay replacing Peter Lawwell in the summer. Mr McKay has a lot of work to do if he is to hit the ground running as he looks to build the club back better.
