A social media account has claimed that Celtic target Caoimhin Kelleher is on a mere £10k per week. The Liverpool goalkeeper started in this evening’s win against Luton Town at Anfield in the place of the injured Allison.

However, a Twitter/X account has collated the estimated salaries of Irish players playing in the English Premier League – using data from Spotrac – revealing the surprising figure. It claims that the Liverpool No.2 is on £10k per week, despite the Reds seemingly valuing the 25-year-old at £10m.

Celtic are reportedly an option for a loan-to-buy deal that would see a temporary switch to Paradise in the summer and then an option to buy implemented, which is often agreed in advance by parties. There are, however, other teams vying for his signature as the Reds stopper eyes regular game time.

Joe Hart, Celtic’s No.1, is within the last six months of his deal with the Englishman expected to sit down with Brendan towards the end of the season to discuss the future. It is a potentially sticky position for Celtic, similar to the summer of 2020, where Craig Gordon was allowed to leave only for Fraser Forster to blank a move meaning Vasilis Barkas was signed. Hart has been excellent in the second half of the season and the club would be in an extremely difficult position had it not been for some of his saves.

Certainly the goalkeeper role needs looked at for the long term; however, there are other areas of the pitch requiring quality additions in the summer transfer window.
