SWPL1 Fixtures: First ever Flag Day on Sunday 11 August for Celtic FC Women

Celtic FC Women will kick off their defence of the Scottish Women’s Premier League on Sunday 11 August at the Excelsior Stadium against Dundee United.

Just seven days later, we’ll have our first big match of the season as we travel to Petershill Park to face Glasgow City. City placed third last season but have lost some good players, so it’ll be interesting to see how they fare.

We return to the Excelsior on Wednesday 21 August when we face Motherwell. And it’s another away trip on Sunday 25 August as we go away to Aberdeen. The fifth matchday has Celtic FC Women facing a seemingly stronger Hibs side at home on Sunday 1st September.

The first Glasgow derby of the season will be played at Broadwood Stadium on Wednesday 2nd October. The month after, on 17th of November, we host theRangers on matchday 13, hopefully unlucky for them!

Full fixture details are available here, but our first five are certainly not the worst and will Elena Sadiku’s squad to show why they deserve to be champions for a second successive year.

With Dundee United on opening day, it should be a chance for a decent victory against last season’s relegation candidates. Glasgow City away from home is certainly a difficult tie but with some of the names that they’ve lost in the off-season, they could potentially struggle going into the new campaign.

Even better that the first game against theRangers isn’t until matchday eight because that will give us the time to prepare and for the new players to settle in and get used to playing their football in the SWPL1.

Season tickets for Celtic Women are still available to purchase at a discounted price until Monday 8th July. Don’t miss the chance to support Celtic’s title-winning squad!
