It’s been a mixed season for Celtic’s loanees, as most of them have shown that they could be solid additions but probably haven’t proven they would be worth a big transfer fee.
Shane Duffy may be the exception to that rule as he’ll return to Brighton with his reputation in tatters, but the full backs have shown flashes.
Jonjoe Kenny has looked pretty solid so he could be a good long-term signing, while Diego Laxalt has been much more interesting to watch.
His all-action style means he can look completely outstanding and he’s played very well in some important games this season, but he does lack any kind of discipline when it comes to holding his position and that is a big problem in a back four – especially if your centre backs aren’t playing well.

It still feels like it would be a surprise if Laxalt was still a Celtic player next season, but a report from Sportmediaset has suggested that talks have already taken place.
It’s believed that Celtic have seen enough from him to justify paying a reasonable transfer fee, but they will be looking for a big discount on that fee.
Reports state that Milan paid £13m for him so clearly a massive discount on that price will be needed, but if they could agree on something round about the £3m mark then it could start to make sense.
