Team’s Up – Maeda centre forward, Idah on bench

Brendan Rodgers has named his Celtic team to take on Hibs at Celtic Park this afternoon in the League Cup tie which will be played to a finish with the winners earning a place in the quarter final draw.

Alistair Johnston makes the team after his injury scare at Easter Road last Sunday after a nasty collision just before the interval. Kyogo with his shoulder issue that resurfaced in last weekend’s 2-0 victory over today’s opponents and Mikey Johnston with his eye socket injury will both miss-out today, as will Luis Palma who was the victim of a heavy challenge on the flag-day opening victory over Kilmarnock.

Kasper Schmeichel is in goals and the back-four for Celtic today is Alistair Johnston, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Liam Scales and Greg Taylor. In the middle of the park is the same again with the captain Callum McGregor being joined by the impressive duo of Matt O’Riley and Reo Hatate.

Nicolas Kuhn and James Forrest can play on each wing and are likely to swap as and when necessary and Daizen Maeda starts as our centre forward.

Adam Idah, back at the club after his £9.5m record breaking move from Norwich, will lead the  line in the closing half hour knowing  how Brendan works and he’ll be buoyed by the huge welcome he’ll receive from the Celtic support.

  1. The guy who can barely get a shot, header or cross on target is at centre forward?
Hopefully he’ll sclaff a tap-in or get injured & Idah can come on & do the business
