Team’s Up – Phillips and Yang start, CCV on bench

Brendan Rodgers has named his team for this evening’s UEFA Champions League game against Lazio. The Scottish Champions won in dramatic fashion on Saturday at Fir Park and will be hoping to capture the resilience that the team showed at the weekend under the lights tonight.

The manager has brought Nat Phillips in from the start with Cameron Carter-Vickers succeeding in making the bench. In the right wing position, Yang has been given the start.

In goals, Joe Hart returns.

In defence, Liam Scales partners the Liverpool loaned Phillips with Alistair Johnston and Greg Taylor at full back.

In midfield, Callum McGregor is joined by Reo Hatate and Matt O’Riley.

In attack, Kyogo starts through the middle with Yang and Daizen Maeda on the wings.

On the bench: Bain, Morrison, Palma, Turnbull, Oh, Carter-Vickers, Tomoki, Forrest, Ralston, M.Johnston.

The teams last met in 2019 in the UEFA Europa League with a Celtic winning both games 2-1. Rodgers will be keen to get points on the board with a result tonight.

Celtic will be hoping for their first group stage home win since 2013 in the competition, with the last win coming in 2017.
