Embarrassing! Pathetic! Shameful!…

We saw a Celtic team who disgraced the Hoops today. It is very easy to say that it all disappeared along with Callum McGregor up the tunnel, but as we all know, it disappeared a long time ago, and the result it that we now have to face another week of chortling from the lovers of those who couldn’t beat St Johnstone and St Mirren.

Yes we had our chances but we all know that we didn’t take them. Odsonne Edouard – I think I heard someone mentioning “demeanour”. That sums it all up. The boy’s heart has not been in it, and when you play for Celtic, there has to be heart there. Even when the opportunities presented themselves to him, he did not have the conviction to take them. His goal today was welcome, but there should have been an awful lot more.

But belief was lacking generally. It cannot help that there is no clear direction at the top about next year’s Manager. The more I see of performances like this, the more I think we must go for Roy Keane. We really have to fight fire with fire! Perhaps there are those who feel that they can be happy about the smirks on the faces of Ibrox and their sympathisers in high places. I am not one of them. We need someone like Jock Stein who fought back. What we have not done this year is “fight back”. This really has to happen next season. We cannot allow this to continue.

The saving grace is that there are several of those who were wearing the green and white today who will never do so again. We all have our “favourites” in this respect, and I have already mentioned Odsonne Edouard, whom I sometimes feel bad about persecuting. In another context, one has to mention Scott Brown whose last big game this was in the hoops. It is hard to imagine a younger Scott Brown lying down so tamely as our team did today.

And please, Mr Rugby man or whoever it is who does these things, let us get going quickly! The Celtic supporters have been shamefully betrayed. We have been patient with far too many people. We are like the alcoholic who has hit the gutter. The only way we can look is up.

Let us now rise again! And quickly.
