The Rangers v Celtic – Match Preview, Kick-off Time and Where to Watch

Sky Sports this evening will be showing the first Glasgow Derby of the season between and the Champions, Celtic FC Women which takes place at Broadwood Stadium in Cumbernauld…

Celtic are currently two points behind both theRangers and Glasgow City, who have played a game more. Elena Sadiku’s side slipped up dropping two points against Hibs at the Excelsior Stadium in a match that they should have won. However the Hoops have beaten Glasgow City with they have still to play theRangers in the first round of fixtures.

Celtic of course won the title last season on goal difference and that left the ungracious Rangers manager – who seldom mentions the word CELTIC – complaining that her team should have won it and were the best team in the country. They say the table never lies Jo, and if you can’t congratulate your opponent then the next best thing to do is say nothing.

Elena Sadiku is so assured and self confident and seems to get under theRangers manager’s skin. Sadiku is always focused on her own team and will seldom if ever indulge in the petty side of the game, so the digs are unintentional but hit home brilliantly. Listen to the two in their pre-match interviews and you’ll pick some of this up.

Ahead of the Glasgow Derby Elena Sadiku had this to say when asked about Potter complaining that her team were the better team and should have won the league last season. “They were not (the better team). We won the league, we always aim to win and to win well. That is not going to change.”

Potter, who complains about Celtic doing the Huddle (without saying CELTIC), has obviously been smarting about goal difference deciding the title last season and that led to her side being a participant in the league route in the Champions League qualifiers while Celtic progressed to the group stages via the Champions route with some brilliant victories along the way earning Celtic a place in the group stage amongst Europe’s elite clubs.

Potter’s side though were hammered 6-0 by Arsenal then lost 3-0 to Atletico Madrid to exit European competition for the season. All focus is on the league and tonight her team will be super motivated.  Celtic need to stand up to this and show the necessary desire to get something from the game. A win takes us top. Here’s how the table looks at the moment.
