Luis Palma missed two chances to score from the spot in Celtic’s first half against Ross County. The Honduran winger was denied by George Wickens, who got down well to block the effort to the Ross County goalkeeper’s right. As the County players lauded their ‘keeper, referee Alan Muir halted play as he consulted with VAR.

After dialogue with the officials at Clydesdale House, the penalty was re-awarded with encroachment in the box. Surprisingly, Palma looked for the ball straight away. The player, who missed against Motherwell earlier this season, stepped up with Wickens in the way once more and a replica of his first penalty followed with the same result.

Palma looked upset, as is to be expected when a player misses two penalties in a game that his team haven’t got going; however, he was consoled by Celtic goalkeeper Joe Hart, who made the most of a break in play to come forward and comfort his teammate. It appeared to work and since then, Palma has been trying to beat his man and make something happen.

It wasn’t to be for Palma as Celtic trundled towards three points. Hopefully, the winger won’t let the misfiring on Saturday impact and take the reassurances from Hart and the rest of his teammates.
