Thirty years on and wee Fergus still deserves our utmost gratitude

It’s now 30 years to the day that Fergus McCann rode into town and saved us from the clutches of the tired and incompetent old board. The shysters who were running our club into the ground thought they were untouchable. Their arrogance led them to believe that they were untouchable, despite the many protestations of the supporters.

That arrogance was quickly destroying our club, but Fergus helped by a few other significant figures backed those shysters into a corner and forced them into handing over the keys to the club.

Wee Fergus was the main man. Yes a few others including the supporters deserve great credit and recognition for their part in the saving of our club, but the man with the bunnet was the man who made it all happen.

His money saved us from the clutches of the bank, that is a fact. Fergus led us into the modern era and the success we enjoy today is all down to him. He had the wealth, the power, the vision. Everything we have today is in a big part down to him.

He might not have been everyone’s cup of tea, but Fergus deserves nothing but our utmost gratitude for what he done for our football club. His good deeds will never be forgotten.

An ordinary everyday Celtic supporters hailing and still residing in Govan in the shadows of the enemy. I’m a season ticket holder. I Witnessed my first Celtic game in 1988 and have attended when I can ever since. Growing up in the 90s I witnessed Celtic at their lowest, and now appreciate the historic success we enjoy today. I enjoy writing about this wonderful football club and hopefully will continue to do so. I’ve always been a keen writer and initially started this a hobby. My ambition is to one day become as good an author as my fellow Celtic Star colleagues.

The vitriol that was directed towards the Bunnet from the SFA and the Deidco/sevvie minded media was shocking. Go on the Celtic Wiki and see some of the things said, also, McCanns letter to the SFA board.
They tried to chase him out of Scotland. Fergus took them on and won.
Every Celtic supporter should know how close we came to being Celvco. Would we have been allowed to rejoin the league immediately and claim Celtics history including the big cup? We all know the answer to that.

They should name a stand after Fergus or a statue or we would haved died like the old rangers
