Three games this week plus a few new signings says Natalie Ross

Natalie Ross started her first match in 18 yesterday at a behind closed doors match against Southampton at Barrowfield, played ahead of Celtic’s pre-season friendly against Blackburn Rovers, nearby at Celtic Park.

Ross, like Lisa Robertson who has returned to the club after a season on loan at Birmingham City, adds much needed experience and quality to Fran Alonso’s exciting young Celtic side.

After the match which ended honours even with a 1-1 draw, Natalie spoke to Celtic TV and praised the youngsters who have come up from the Under 19s to play for the Celtic FC Women first team with many of them looking to make a real impact this season with the League Cup and Scottish Cup holders.

There’s not been much pre-season news coming from Celtic regarding women’s pre-season fixtures, for example the match yesterday against a quality Southampton side nearly went completely under the radar – except here at The Celtic Star where he had our usual Match Report to keep you informed.

And we had previously reported that Fran Alonso’s attempts to arrange a friendly while the squad were over in Lanzarote at their summer training camp, came to nothing as the local Spanish sides were still on their break.

However Natalie Ross did reveal that there will now be THREE matches this week and she’s looking forward to getting more minutes under her belt as she prepares herself for the new season.

And as expect it looks like Fran Alonso is busy in the transfer market with Natalie string that two new arrivals are expected shortly. More on these fixtures and signings when we get more information.

The first match showing on the official Celtic website is for the SWPL1 opener against Hibs on Sunday 7 August.
