Recent reports have hinted that Celtic’s transfer hopes of signing Kieran Tierney could be over, but another Premier League defender could be the answer if we fail to bring back Tierney.
Speculation over Kieran Tierney’s return to Parkhead has been building throughout the summer. Tierney has been shunned by Mikel Arteta time and time again and it seems that Tierney wants a move away this summer. Most recently, Tierney was spotted training away from the first team with a different group of players, suggesting that a move may be imminent.
However, according to the Scottish Sun, Celtic hopes of re-signing Tierney are now over as the full-back is now in talks with Real Sociedad. Although, it’s worth noting that Anthony Joseph at Sky Sports also reports on the Sociedad pursuit but also references Celtic’s continued interest.
Real Sociedad are in talks with Arsenal over a loan move for Kieran Tierney.
It’s understood the deal could come with an option to buy.
Celtic are also keeping an eye on Tierney’s situation, but would have to overcome major hurdles to make a deal happen.

Surely, any hope of signing Tierney is over once he signs for another club. But merely engaging in talks with a different club doesn’t mean that Celtic no longer have any chance of signing the full-back or that the move is completed at all.
Anyway, if this report is to be believed there is another option that may be available to Brendan Rodgers. The Tottenham Hotspur defender, Eric Dier could be a useful addition to the Celtic squad. Reports from Football London suggest that Dier isn’t looking for a move away from Spurs but is willing to go out on loan if Ange Postecoglou isn’t willing to offer him any game time. So, although this would only be a loan deal, he is a defender with vast experience who could really add to Celtic as there are several defenders out on injury.
The versatile Dyer could be an ideal short-term signing and he might fancy a chance to play in the Champions League this season probably as a central defender, given Celtic’s current injury crisis in the centre of defence.
Get him up the road with KT!
Eric Dier I’m on board with – have we ever signed a centre-half on loan from Tottenham and it HASNT worked out?!
(CCV and Ramon Vega, who played a grand total of 26 matches in the hoops and won the treble!)
Tierney is a great player but I’m not sure he’s the guy to help you out of a deepening injury crisis…..
