The disappointment of dropping two points on Saturday was offset by the result from Pittodrie yesterday afternoon.
Those two points dropped actually turned into one point gained. Football sure is a funny old game. Frowns turning into smiles in the space of twenty four hours and vice versa.
Regardless of the result in the Granite City yesterday the title was still staying at Paradise. That was never in doubt, but as always when the blue half of Glasgow drop three points, it was very satisfying indeed. Not only does it mean that we can wrap the title up sooner, it dents the feel good factor over at Ibrox and casts a cloud over their confidence going into Sunday’s Scottish Cup semi final at Hampden.
Make no mistake, the media were expecting a convincing win for their favourites at Pittodrie yesterday. They were looking forward to painting a picture of doom at Celtic after our draw against Motherwell and waxing lyrical about everything at Ibrox. This changes everything, oh how gutted they must be!
That said, they will revert to type after a day or two and yesterday’s result will be long forgotten. Come Wednesday It will be extremely positive regarding theRangers and totally negative towards Celtic. It’s just the way it’s always been and always will be.
No matter what the media decide to spin, Celtic supporters can now start the week in a positive manner despite the disappointment of Saturday. We know we can’t play as badly again, and with the added bonus of knowing we’re only one win away from the title we can look forward to Hampden with a better outlook than we expected on Saturday evening.
This treble is well and truly on!
