Of course we all hope that the current situation starts to die down and we are able to see the Scottish Premiership season played to a finish, but we have to face the reality that it may be impossible.
That could result in a lot of debate about what should happen to the title. Of course Alex Rae has turned himself into some kind of one-man slobbering army attempting to discredit Celtic’s right to the title, but they are also 13 points clear with only 8 games left to play.

There’s a similar situation in England where Liverpool are runaway leaders who would clearly win the league if it’s played to a conclusion, so a lot of fans will be looking around Europe for examples to follow.
This report from AS in Spain could be worrying, after the Spanish FA announced that Barcelona would not be awarded the title if La Liga can’t restart.
It’s worth noting that there are only two points between Barca and Real Madrid, while the Spanish FA tend to lean towards the Madrid based teams when they can so it’s not a massive shock.
The problem is that it would set a precedent and we’ve seen the SFA are more than happy to be sheep at every given opportunity, so it could be an easy way out for them to wait until another FA makes a choice and then simply follow that.
But that works both ways and if as expected both the English and Scottish leagues award their titles to Liverpool and Celtic respectively that too sets a precedent too and that would be regarded as bad news for Real Madrid.
The truth is that when play was suspended across Europe no team in England or Scotland had any realistic or even remote chance of catching the leaders while in Spain and indeed other leagues things were much tighter. So a one solution fits all edict from UEFA doesn’t really cut the mustard.
You would hope they will take more into account and look at the league table and take that into account too, but you can never truly tell what the SPFL and their chums at the Scottish FA will do sometimes.
