Tottenham close in on Serie A defender, which will have transfer impact on Celtic

Former Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou could have a hand in some of Celtic’s January transfer business. The Australian, who left Glasgow for Spurs in the summer, is close to adding to his defensive ranks in North London as he continues his ambitions to win trophies in the English game.
Spurs are hopeful that Radu Dragusin will confirm personal terms and bolster Ange’s backline.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Dragusin is subject to a late offer from Bayern Munich but it looks as if the defender will depart the club in the coming days.

The transfer business of Spurs or Bayern tend not to bother Celtic supporters; however, a deal for Dragusin will mean that Genoa are in the market for a central defender. Reports have suggested that Gustaf Lagerbielke is high on Genoa’s list of transfer targets. The defender has made just nine appearances but sits behind Cameron Carter-Vickers, Liam Scales, Maik Nawrocki and Stephen Welsh in the manager’s pecking order.

Despite being named as Sweden’s Defender of the Season after his displays for Elfsborg. The 23-year-old has failed to live up to his £3m price tag after replacing Carl Starfelt after his compatriot moved to Celta Vigo.

Lagerbielke has drifted somewhat out of the first team picture. The young defender has shown some indecision and rashness at various points this season, namely the sending off in Rotterdam and getting caught on the ball against Rangers – where Cyril Dessers fouled him before assisting Kemar Roofe’s goal, that was correctly ruled out. Although, he did score the late winner against Feyenoord in the Champions League, which many thought would serve as the catalyst to push him into the first team.

It could benefit the player to move on loan but with Genoa taking some cash when they sell Dragusin, they may look to take the player in a permanent move.
