Tottenham Hotspur set to make offer to Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou

Tottenham Hotspur look set to step up their interest in Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou in the coming days. According to a report this evening, the North London club will look to sound the Australian out about the possibility of succeeding Antonio Conte at Spurs this summer.

According to a report from The Daily Record, Spurs will look to step up their interest in the 57-year-old in the coming days as they look to build ahead of the new season. The report states that they will look to put together a package that would entice the Celtic boss to consider a switch to London.

Daniel Levy has been rebuffed by Feyenoord boss Arne Slot, who used the interest to get a new deal with the Dutch side. The London club are famously the only sides that serial winners Jose Mourinho and Conte have been unable to secure silverware with, with their reigns ending in acrimonious splits.

There is a massive rebuild at Spurs this summer but you could certainly see the opportunity to manage in the Premier League with the facilities that Spurs have, appealing to any manager. Hopefully Celtic are able to retain Ange, especially with the draw of playing Champions League football again next year. There is a clear connection between the players, manager and fans.

Ange will see his side collect the Premiership trophy for the second successive season and he will be keen that next weekend he can add his name to the club’s Roll of Honour by presiding over a Treble at Hampden.

  1. He has no ambition if he choses to stay in a pub league. Celtic will be lucky to drop into the Europa after the group stages. Having said that, I don’t want him at Spurs.

Well, feck off and don’t bother the website of a team tnat wins trophies ya sill cant! Last thing you won? FA Cup 1981 wi Ricky Villa? Ange won’t bother goin to a smaller club like Spuds anyway. Now, jog on!

I think if Ange was tempted away from Celtic at this stage, it would make a nonsense of what he said not so long ago – that people may be surprised how long he stays with Celtic. He still has work to do with Celtic, especially in Europe, so if he goes now it would sadly demonstrate that his own personal advancement is more important than seeing through a job to its conclusion. Winning what’s on offer in Scotland is a great achievement, but it’s no different to what other managers have done.

Henrik Larsson was the example all should follow when it comes to loyalty. He was a top player who could have moved on to bigger things a lot sooner than he did, but he stayed at Celtic to repay the club’s trust in him. I’m afraid that any manager or player who gets tempted away after a fairly short period with the club goes way down in my estimation. I hope Ange doesn’t go for the poison chalice that is Tottenham.

    • Ange left Yokohama midway through their season to come to Celtic because they offered him great deal and he wanted to manage a European side. Celtic may be a stepping stone and he has never stayed in one place for too long and left when a better opportunity arose.

    • Total agree with you. Wish Scottish league was stronger must be frustrated how easy things were this year. Hopefully next year Celtic do better in Champions League at least stay europa after Christmas. Let’s Face the facts if Tottenham do come in them it’s opportunity that give him realistic chance doing something special EL. Top six Clubs worth considering for him. Celtic do offer CL Football next year but we need better quality players key positions that’s hard. That’s challenge that not many other clubs can offer.

  3. I hope Ange does stay because I think spurs is the poison chalice no manager can get them success because they don’t invest the right money,I will be sorry to see him go but if he does go I will wish him nothing but success for what he did for us,I just hope someone shows him some videos of the maestro Paul mcstay to show him what this club does to it’s loyal family

  4. Celtic may well give him a much improved contact which will be enough for him to stay , given if he does go to Tottenham, and like previous managers not win silverware, then he is out . Nevertheless it’s primarily all about the money, , he is on a rolling contact which Celtic and nobody would refuse a lucrative contact with a premier league club, to be sure
