Tottenham are tracking Celtic midfielder Ismaila Soro according to a report in Daily Mail. The 22 year-old who is highly regarded by the Celtic support, has played 20 times this season and is seen as the replacement for captain Scott Brown, who will leave the club next month to take up a player/coach role at Aberdeen.

Tottenham, like Celtic are currently without a manager yet it appears that both clubs aren’t letting that stop them as the summer transfer window gets ready to open. The Premier League side is planning on operating on a restricted budget in this window and are accordingly on the hunt for bargains. Soro has impressed in his 20 appearances or Celtic after arriving in January last year in a £2.7m deal with Israeli side Bnei Yehuda.

It seems pretty inconceivable that Celtic would allow the Ivory Coast-born holding midfielder to leave given the confirmed departure of Scott Brown and the more that likely transfer of Ryan Christie.

Celtic sold another of the young guns, Jeremie Frimpong to Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen for £11.5m in January in a deal that was regarded as too good to refuse – so just like speedy Dutch born right-back, Ismaila Soro will have his price.

Whether Tottenham test Celtic’s resolve remains to be seen but one thing that this transfer speculation does do is re-enforce the view held by just about all Celtic supporters, that Soro is a star in the making.
