Transfer Latest – Celtic monitoring Liverpool midfielder Wataru Endo

Celtic are monitoring Liverpool midfielder Wataru Endo as the Premier League outfit open to a sale, reports The Sun.

Marseille have already had one big rejected for the player, and although they are expected to come back with another, they may now have to face competition from the Scottish champions.

Brendan Rodgers is believed to think that the capture of Endo would immensely boost his squad both domestically and in Europe. What may put Celtic off a permanent deal for the midfielder is that Liverpool would likely command a transfer fee in excess of £15m.

Being one of Jurgen Klopp’s final signings at the Reds, Endo made 29 appearances in the English top flight last season, managing to find the net once. New manager Arne Slot is believed to prefer Ryan Gravenberch and Stefan Bajcetic in his midfielder over the Japanese midfielder, leaving them in a position to get him off their books.

Likely, this is nothing more than interest as a player with a transfer value of around £15m may be out of our reach. If the Celtic board wanted to, they could easily afford this transfer deal. Until the Adam Idah deal that is currently progressing to a conclusion, they have been unwilling to splash the cash.

Wataru Endo could be a revelation at Celtic

Wataru Endo could be a revelation in the Scottish Premiership and strengthen the squad considerably with the Champions League in mind.

This is the second midfielder that Rodgers has been linked with today, and with one already through the door in the form of Paulo Bernardo, it makes you wonder if the manager is concerned about his midfield situation.

Right now, we bolster a powerful midfield with the likes of Matt O’Riley and Reo Hatate, but with O’Riley being linked to a move away, Rodgers could be looking at improving his midfield options after Matt goes.

In other news, the Millwall manager last night confirmed the capture of a promising Celtic player, with Celtic pushing for a quick exit rather than seeing Daniel Kelly sit the rest of the year out in cold storage at lennoxtown.  A fee of £500k plus a sell-on clause would be enough to let Kelly head to Millwall this summer.

  1. Shite player ffs don’t buy. 1 goal in 29 appearances last season would make him a tailor-made board-stiff replacement for M O’R although Celtic will be stuck firmly in the MOR if it buys this Chirpy Chirpy Cheap-Cheap.

  2. So when’s Matty leaving? Can yous just give me the timeline or is he really going to put the foot down on Liewell?
