GARY PENRICE was at Bristol City over the weekend as Celtic’s Head of Recruitment potentially scouted Celtic target Niclas Eliason. Penrice was a Bristol City legend in his playing days; however, Bristol Live claims that he was there to watch City’s Swedish winger Eliason.
The 24-year-old has one year remaining with the Championship side and in order to avoid losing one of their star players on a free transfer next year, have initiated new talks to begin. However, Eliasson is waiting to have all the options before he decides where he is playing his football next year.
The Italian publication Cittaceleste claimed that Celtic’s Nicky Hammond had scouted Eliasson in January with a move in mind and now the former AIK winger could be the subject of another approach by Neil Lennon’s side with a move this window back on the cards.
With 3 goals and 12 assists last season, Eliasson gained some admirers at other clubs meaning Bristol face a challenge to keep him at the club. Celtic could make a move for a player that has been utilised as a left wing back as well as a right winger in his time with the Championship club and due to his contract talks stalling has had to settle for a place on the bench.
