Transfer Latest – Deal done for Adam Montgomery to return to St Johnstone

As we mentioned earlier today, the door at McDiarmid Park had not closed on Celtic wing-back Adam Montgomery who had returned to Celtic after completing his six months loan spell at St Johnstone.

Montgomery had established himself in Callum Davidson side and we told you that the player could be going back to Perth after spending this week training back at Lennoxtown with his parent club Celtic.

Now it’s been confirmed that Montgomery will make the 55 miles journey from Glasgow to Perth to complete the season at St Johnstone after Ange Postecoglou gave the green light for a second loan spell to proceed.

The Celtic manager had this to say about Montgomery continuing his development at Saints. “I think he is happy there. He is contributing there and it’s important for us that our young players are playing.

“Callum (Davidson) is a good coach for Adam. He develops young players well and we’d be happy for him to stay there. But obviously that has got to be agreed by all parties.”

That has now happened, according to The Courier. Callum Davidson said: “Adam has performed well, which I’m really pleased about. He’s got better and better. Adam’s managed to pick himself for the team because of his performances. It’s not me playing him because he’s a Celtic player.

“His attitude in training and around the place has been first class. The young man has got a big future. Hopefully he’ll go far.”
