“FC Midtjylland in dialogue about Giorgos Giakoumakis. He is a former top scorer in the Honors Division and a forward in Celtic. It’s one of those that will be really expensive if it succeeds,” BT Sporten Journalist Farzam Abolhosseini reports.
The Celtic striker has been the subject of media speculation about seeking a move away from the club in the January transfer window after his reported new contract talks stalled at the end of last year.
The player’s agent has been busy linking him with a move to an undisclosed club in Saudi Arabia and complaining about his client’s lack of game-time at Celtic, where Kyogo has established himself as the first pick striker and is in excellent goalscoring form.
The Greece international striker has been used as a second half substitute by the Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou and Giakoumakis has looked increasing frustrated as he looks to grab a goal to re-ignite his season.
He did play a part in Celtic’s equaliser at Ibrox on Sunday when the Celtic manager unusually opted to end the game with two strikers on the pitch as he chased an equaliser. Giakoumakis provided the muscle and Kyogo the finish to earn Celtic a point that maintains the club’s nine points advantage at the top of the league looking down at theRangers.
Celtic appear to be edging closer to signing the South Korean World Cup striker Cho Gue-sung with media reports confirming that Celtic have formally bid for the player. His arrival could signal the desired exit for Giakoumakis.

Midtjylland's record transfer is around £4.5M which they've paid twice, both this season.
Over the last two seasons they've made in excess of £50M from player sales.
Erik Sviatchenko's side currently find themselves 7th on the table in Denmark. https://t.co/LcV1EBJdmB
