Celtic’s pursuit of Mario Vuskovic appears to have cooled over the past week or so and now the Hadjuk Split defender is being linked with a move to Feyenoord with FC Basel also credited with an interest in the Croat.

Celtic previously made a bid for the player but Hadjuk Split have been holding out for more money and so far that hasn’t worked in terms of Celtic upping their bid but with the Dutch and Swiss sides now entering the race for the player’s signature that is likely to happen with Daily Record suggesting that Rotterdam rather than Glasgow is the likely destination for Vuskovic.

Torino were the first side in for Vuskovic but withdrew after it became clear to the Italians that Hadjuk Split were after big bucks for the young defender. The same paper also tells us that Celtic ‘missed out’ on signing Australian goalkeeper Mat Ryan who yesterday penned a two-year deal to return to Spanish football with Real Sociedad.

There had never been any indication at all that Celtic had actually made a move to sign the keeper who gave a hint on Australian TV last week that he’d be up for Haggis ahead of Paella. None of that though establishes a move by Celtic to sign the player, so we hardly ‘missed out’ did we?
