Need has broken that reported Celtic target, Luis Palma, has taken a step forward to moving to the Hoops. For reports in his homeland have claimed that the Honduran was left out of his club’s first-team training today ahead of the potential transfer to Glasgow’s East End.
Brendan Rodgers openly admitted that the squad he has at his disposal just now is definitely weaker than the one he inherited from Ange Postecoglou back in June and that additions must be made before the window closes to rectify this issue. Injuries have pulverized the defensive line of the team and we now face a crisis ahead of important parts of the campaign.
A trip to Ibrox looms large on the 3 Spetemeber and the UEFA Champions League group stages are about to start come the middle of next month too. So far, the club have brought in a good amount of young players with room for development and potential for growth in a Celtic shirt. However, we need more oven-ready signings to aid our assault both domestically and on the European circuit.
Stephen McGowan of the Scottish Daily Mail claimed when he broke the story about the Bhoys bidding for Palma last night that we are looking to add three or four faces before the close of the summer transfer window on 1 September. A left-winger, left full-back, goalkeeper and extra striker had been thought to be on the agenda, but now priorities might have changed with Cameron Carter-Vickers, Maik Nawrocki and Stephen Welsh all missing for up to eight weeks now.
Meanwhile, Greek journalist, Giannis Chorianopoulos, has given an update on the Luis Palma situation at present and he’s confirmed that the attacker missed training today, whilst the possible move to the Scottish Premiership Champions is thrashed out between all three parties.
He’s stated:
“Luis Palma was out of Aris Thessaloniki training, ahead of his transfer. Greek club contacted his agent. Celtic seem to be the favourites to sign Palma. Offers from non European clubs also, Palma wants to continue playing in Europe.”
