Liam Scales will deputise for CCV

With Cameron Carter-Vickers ruled out of our clash with Aston Villa tonight, the spotlight will be on both Liam Scales and Auston Trusty to stop the attacking threat of the EPL side.

The starting XI has yet to be confirmed, but it’s a forgone conclusion that Liam Scales will deputise for CCV tonight and partner USA international Trusty and not for the first time in this Champions League campaign.

One of those games was the disaster in Dortmund, and we don’t want a repeat of that, but another fixture both started was the game in Bergamo when he held an all attacking Atalanta side to a goalless stalemate.

A repeat of Atalanta showing needed

A game in which the two of them were absolutely solid against an Atalanta side with serious firepower. They stood up when it mattered, and tonight they will need to have that same focus and determination that foiled the current Europa League holders.

Both players have their critics, but they have proven that they are capable of handling the best what Europe has to offer on their day. Tonight they will have to show those qualities if we are to gain a positive result.
